Learn yoga asana, breathing, meditation with us or join our yoga teacher mentoring programme

We want to share our passion with you. For the past ten years we have been teaching private yoga classes in Walthamstow E17 and across London. We are committed to helping you love the practice of yoga as much as we do. Whether you want to learn asana (yoga postures), pranayama (yoga breathing) or meditation we can help you. And now you can tap into our experience and develop your career as a teacher via our yoga teacher mentorship programme.

We met at a yoga class in 1999 and almost immediately decided to give up our jobs and move to India to further our yoga studies. Whilst in India we got married, just nine months after our first meeting. Since then we have been travelling the world, studying with some of the most knowledgeable teachers in the world and sharing the yoga practice. We have decades of experience practicing and teaching yoga, and this enables us to provide you with in-depth tuition and guidance, all delivered with a clear, professional and compassionate touch.

Both of us have received the direct authorisation of the Ashtanga yoga master Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009) to pass on the Ashtanga yoga method. Fewer than 150 teachers worldwide received this authorisation within his lifetime. We also hold the highest accreditation from a number of other yoga organisations. To ensure that you get the most from your private yoga sessions we are constantly investing in our education. Charlie holds and M.A. in Indian Religions and is a Certified Biomechanics Specialist. Alice is a nutritional therapist and a Yoga massage therapist.

More about Charlie

I first encountered the Ashtanga yoga practice when I was an undergraduate and I was immediately hooked on the practice. I've been practicing yoga and meditation daily for more than 25 years. I made my first trip to India in 1999, starting my studies with my teacher, the Ashtanga Yoga master Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009), and learning the Ashtanga Yoga pranayama system. In 2001 I was fortunate to receive the direct authorisation of Pattabhi Jois to pass on the Ashtanga yoga method and I have been teaching yoga full time ever since.

I want everyone to love yoga as much as I do and I believe that anyone can reap the many physical and mental benefits of regular yoga practice. In my years of teaching and practicing I have experienced amazing transformations in my own life and I want to use my knowledge to help other people get the most out of their yoga practice. I want to make the vinyasa (coordinating moving and breathing) method of yoga I learned from Pattabhi Jois accessible to students of all levels, from complete beginner to experienced yogi.

I am now using my experience to help to provide mentorship for yoga teachers who want to deepen their own personal practices and also their teaching skills.

I have an MA in Indian Spiritual Traditions and I am registered with Yoga Alliance Professionals as a Senior Yoga Teacher, with the Independent Yoga Network as a Yoga Elder, and with Yoga Alliance at the E-RYT500 level, the highest level of accreditation for all these organisations. I am a NESTA-trained Biomechanics Specialist, allowing me to accurately and safely qualitatively assess how you perform each yoga pose. Using this knowledge I can then apply biomechanics principles to customise your approach so that you get the most benefit from each posture in the safest and most effective way.

More about Alice

I fell in love with the Ashtanga Yoga practice in 1996 on a yoga retreat and four years later I started studying  with my teacher Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. For many years I balanced my daily yoga practice with a full time job so I understand the many challenges that people face to maintain a yoga practice alongside a hectic professional and personal life. I received direct teaching authorisation from Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in 2005 and have been teaching yoga since then. I'm passionate about helping people to connect to their breath and their core strength so that they can safely explore their flexibility. I love to work with people who are entering the second half of life to help them discover the life-enhancing benefits of yoga practice.

I'm registered with Yoga Alliance Professionals as a Senior Yoga Teacher and with the Independent Yoga Network as a Yoga Elder, the highest level of accreditation within these organisations. I am also a qualified nutritional therapist and I have studied Thai Yoga Massage extensively.

Legal ownership. Charlie and Alice operate as independent teachers and you will be required to pay the teacher you work with directly. Fees, once paid, are not transferable between Charlie and Alice.
